IMG_0660Located in south-eastern Sydney, Port Botany sits on the north shore of Botany Bay, with neighbouring suburbs of Phillip Bay, Matraville, and Banksmeadow. Historically significant, Botany Bay is where Captain Cook landed in 1770; it was originally called Sting Ray’s Harbour by Cook, followed by Botanist Bay (as botanist Joseph Banks collected a vast array of specimens on its shore).
Today, Port Botany is a major commercial precinct which includes Sydney’s main airports and two container terminal facilities. Port Botany is governed by the local council of the City of Botany Bay.
As well as regular weekly kerbside collection for rubbish removal in Botany Bay, the local council offers the following waste removal services:

• Two scheduled and two pre-booked council kerbside cleanups annually. Accepted items include broken furniture, damaged soft furnishings, blinds, broken toys, and mattresses. Recyclables, garden or organic waste, metals and electrical items, hazardous waste, car parts, asbestos, building materials, paint and gas cylinders are NOT accepted.

All kerbside cleanup items, with the exception of mattresses, are destined for landfill. The council recommends having good quality, unwanted items donated to the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre Co-operative.

• E-waste and Metals drop off events are held by the Botany Bay City Council monthly on Mondays and quarterly on Saturdays. This complimentary service aims to recycle electronics, metals, cables, batteries, and even mattresses in a safe and environmentally responsible way. Non-accepted items include BBQ’s, smoke detectors, x-ray machines, fluorescent tubes, broken cathode ray tubes, and hazardous waste of any kind.

• The Botany Bay City Council website also offers information relating to illegal dumping, recycling, and methods which households can use to reduce food waste. Citizens are encouraged to report illegal dumping activities.

Additionally, you can call AA Adonis Rubbish Removals for any Port Botany or Botany Bay area rubbish removal on the same day. We take all manner of waste, with the exception of hazardous waste, foodstuffs, and asbestos. Our collection is prompt, professional, and you are assured your unwanted goods will be disposed of in the most environmentally sustainable way possible.
