Tips Before You Recycle

When you hire AA Adonis Rubbish Removals for waste removal in Sydney, you know that as much of your rubbish as possible will be recycled as opposed to being dumped in landfill. This is crucial for environmental sustainability and we stand by our strong commitment to this in all aspects of our Sydney rubbish removal service.

There’s a lot you can do at home week to week to recycle as much as possible. With your kerbside recycling bin (yellow lid), you can recycle all newspapers, magazines, milk and juice cartons, glass bottles, jars, cardboard, steel , aluminium, aerosol cans, paper, and recyclable plastic tubs, bottles and containers. These in turn are recycled into new products like paper, polar fleece jackets, street furniture, bottles and auto parts.

There are some things you need to know:

  • Don’t put plastic bags into your recycling bin. They are very difficult to sort and clean, and can get stuck in machinery. Ideally, reuse them for general waste rather than buying rubbish bags.

  • Lids from water and soft drink bottles and the like are not recyclable – leave them off bottles and put them in the general waste bin.

  • There’s no need to remove paper labels from glass or plastic bottles. The recycling process for these is thermal and the paper labels are burnt away.

  • The following must not be discarded in the recycling bin:
  1. Garden waste
  2. Needles or syringes
  3. Building materials
  4. Auto parts
  5. Medical waste
  6. Poisons
  7. Paints
  8. Household waste
  9. Soft plastics
  10. Asbestos
  11. Clothing

While recycling is far better than throwing away, thanks to the fact that recycling consumes fewer resources than creating from scratch, repurposing is even better. Our Sydney rubbish removal specialists recommend reusing or repurposing, and where possible we donate unwanted goods to appropriate recipients.
